Memphis isn't a green city, at least when it comes to sustainability. In a 2024 ranking of the most sustainable cities in the U.S., Memphis was ranked 355 out of 500. The rankings, conducted by LawnStarter, looked at policy, sustainable development, pollution, transportation and food production in the 500 biggest U.S. cities.

Memphis's premier zero-waste refill store, Boshi Botanicals, is excited to mark its first anniversary on November 1, 2024. As the store embarks on its second year of operation, it will introduce a new essential oil scent bar and commemorate the occasion with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. 

Boshi Botanicals, Memphis’s first zero-waste store, and The Compost Fairy, LLC, a residential and commercial compost company, are teaming up to offer compost solutions for Boshi Botanicals customers. Starting Aug. 10, 2024 Boshi Botanicals will offer Compost Fairy compost buckets and subscriptions in-store.

The first zero-waste refill store in Memphis is now open! Located in the cozy, village-style atmosphere of Chickasaw Oaks, Boshi Botanicals is both a brick-and-mortar establishment and a brand for the natural bath and body products created by owner Becky Beloin. A native of Ohio, Becky and her husband traveled the world for his job, moving from France to Germany to Mexico to China to the Philippines — growing their family along the way.

Dedicated to making eco-conscious products like soaps and bath bombs, Boshi Botanicals is the first zero-waste store to open in Memphis. Boshi Botanicals, located inside Chickasaw Oaks, celebrated its grand opening in February 2024. Inside the store you’ll find everything from herbal soaps, beauty and body care products, deodorants, hand soaps, and more.
