MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) -Earth Day is April 22, the Digital Desk caught up with the owner of Memphis’ first and only zero-waste refill store, Boshi Botanicals.

Becky Beloin says her store has greatly expanded its sustainability efforts, with new products in the bulk refill station and low-waste swaps for everyday essentials. They’ve also extended their store hours to help more people access clean choices.

Memphis isn't a green city, at least when it comes to sustainability. In a 2024 ranking of the most sustainable cities in the U.S., Memphis was ranked 355 out of 500. The rankings, conducted by LawnStarter, looked at policy, sustainable development, pollution, transportation and food production in the 500 biggest U.S. cities.
